Metaknight306 Oct : 20:47Agreed, Solo. I've also had problems with other people's "wire management" which turns out to be just throwing them out into the middle of the case where it restricts airflow.
That and building your own PC is so much fun!

| Okay, after getting chatbox entries along with both private- and instant-messages about the loss of our beloved "Daily Dilbert" link, I decided to have a look. It would seem that the e107 plugin for grabbing the Dilbert strip is ... no longer maintained. A search of the e107 plugins site turned up zero entries. Slight bummer there. No easy path.
So I tore into the plugin itself. The code is ugly as heck. I didn't know people could compute dates like that and I have to admit, I'm surprised it even works properly. Half of it is probably blind luck that PHP accepts zeros for dates and compensates (see what I mean about being surprised?). It's Wednesday the zeroth of May, do you know where your Tardis is?
After ripping the Dilbert site apart, I was able to find the plain image (instead of the flash media) URL and slice it into a nice little regular expression for pattern matching (another place where the old version simply got lucky). So I pulled that in, fixed up the dates a bit, and we now have the Daily Dilbert back again.

We might take a little editoral freedom (spelling correction, grammar correction, fact correction, making it pretty, etc.) but we'll try to give everyone their chance to be in the TSC spotlight. | Since we've got a long weekend coming up in the States, and as I haven't had time to reformat the main server and use it for anything else in the meantime, and .. well, since one of the TSTF guys twisted my arm .. I've put the DOD server back up for your enjoyment. I can't promise it'll be up for any length of time, but until I've got some more definite plans on reformatting the server, we can probably count on it being around. | |
